What are your rights?

Lycoming College makes every effort to preserve the confidentiality of reports. The College values and upholds the equality of all members of the community and strives to balance those rights of all individuals involved in the process, understanding how difficult this can be for everyone.

Rights of victims of sexual misconduct:

  • To be physically and emotionally safe
  • To contact law enforcement and seek legal action (if they wish to do so)
  • Have resources and supportive services available on campus and in the community
  • To make housing and academic accommodations
  • To request a no-contact order or PNG (Persona Non Grata)
  • To have their information remain private
  • To file a formal complaint and request to have actions taken if allegations fall under the College’s Equal Opportunity, Harassment, and Nondiscrimination Policy.

Rights of Complainants (alleged victims) and Respondents (alleged perpetrators) in the Title IX process:

  • Right to a fair and equitable process for both parties.
  • Right to written notice of all allegations and identity of parties involved.
  • Right to privacy to the extent possible and permitted by law.
  • Right to be treated with respect by College officials.
  • Right to have all policies and procedures followed outlined in the College’s Equal Opportunity, Harassment, and Nondiscrimination Policy.
  • Right to be informed of all options available and interim/supportive measures on campus and off.
  • Right to an advisor.
  • Right to supportive services and resources available on campus and in the community.
  • Right to have information kept as private as possible.
  • Right to request a no-contact order.
