Sheltering in Place Survival Guide

• Warrior Well Wishes

  Send your well wishes to our students! With remote learning taking place now, students are missing their friends, classmates, professors, and our beautiful campus. Share a message with our students. Let them know that their Lycoming Family is thinking about them, and we are all in this together!

• Zoom Backgrounds

  No matter where you are in the world, Lycoming will always be home. Now you can be here virtually! Simply download and save your favorite background to use during your meetings or social gatherings.

  Download your Zoom backgrounds

  Instructions for using virtual backgrounds on Zoom:

  • From an active Zoom meeting, click or tap the carat next to the video icon and select "Choose a Virtual Background."
  • Upload the photo or video you downloaded (you may need to download a plugin in order for this to work).
  • From the Zoom home screen, click on the settings icon (a cog).
  • In settings, select "Virtual Background."
  • Click "Add Image" and upload the photo or video you downloaded.
  • Select the photo from the options (check the preview to see if you like it) and close the window. The background may appear mirrored to you, but will appear correctly to your viewers.
• Family Fun Activities

  Whether you are looking for ways to have fun with your children, or you're just a big kid at heart, have fun with these activities! Share your fun by uploading your photos and tagging us on social media @lycoalumni, or email your photos to alumni@lycoming.edu so they can be added to a photo album on Facebook.

  Just because we are sheltering in place doesn't mean we can't enjoy tasty foods and beverages! Please check back for some fun recipes and tips.

  Cupcake Decorating with Erin Welsh
  Many of you know our director of catering at Lycoming College, Erin Welsh, from having taken her popular cupcake decorating class at Alumni & Reunion Weekend. An accomplished pastry chef, Erin has organized a suite of online tutorials that walk you step-by-step through some of her most popular designs. Learn how to decorate a watermelon slice, a summer flower, Cookie Monster, and more! View the tutorials here.

  Are you missing the culinary treats from campus as much as we are? Lycoming’s Chef Hummel shares some of his most popular recipes to help inspire creativity in the kitchen and bring a little bit of Lycoming home!

  Enjoying an Old Fashioned with Robb Dietrich
  Lycoming Advancement's own Robb Dietrich, senior director of major and planned gifts, knows a thing or two about craft cocktails. Watch a video as he shares his recipe for success for his favorite, a simple Old Fashioned. Cheers!

  To make an Old Fashioned:

  • Simple syrup to taste
  • Dash of Angostura bitters
  • Dash of orange bitters
  • 2 oz. bourbon or rye
  • Build in the glass, add large piece of ice.

  People across the country have been joining virtual happy hours, and we think that's a great way to stay connected while keeping a safe distance! • Warrior Wellness

  During these uncertain times, it is important to take care of ourselves by sheltering in place and social distancing, as well as being mindful, active, and creative. Remember to take time for yourself. Be gentle and kind. We hope that the information shared here will be helpful to finding your inner peace during this stressful time.

From children’s books to novels, we have you covered, and most books in the catalog can be conveniently purchased on Amazon.com.
