Lowry Ambassador Scholarship

Lycoming College’s Lowry Ambassador Scholarship is available to students intending to major in French, German, and/or Spanish. This one-time scholarship of $3,000 is designed to help support the student’s study abroad experience in completion of the modern language major requirement.

While the Lowry Ambassador Award is granted at the point of admission to the college, this one-time scholarship is only dispersed when the student enrolls in a study abroad experience that meets the major requirements of the studied language. Lowry Ambassador Scholarship recipients must be full-time Lycoming College students who have demonstrated financial need and who meet the academic and student conduct requirements for the Study Abroad Program.

Students majoring in French, German, or Spanish typically study abroad during the junior year, and this experience must be at least 12-weeks within a French-, German-, or Spanish-speaking country, including at least eight of the credits completed in the studied language.

To apply for the Lowry Ambassador Scholarship, please submit an essay in which you describe, in 200 words or less, your interest in studying a foreign language.
