Exercise Science at Lycoming College is an interdisciplinary program rooted in the biological and health sciences, integrating coursework in exercise physiology, anatomy, biomechanics, nutrition, and psychology within a liberal arts framework. Students develop a deep understanding of human movement, physical activity, and wellness through laboratory-based learning and hands-on professional experiences. Whether your goal is to work in rehabilitation, athletic training, strength and conditioning, or to pursue graduate or professional health programs, Lycoming's exercise science program offers two flexible pathways to get you there: The Bachelor of Arts degree is designed for students pursuing applied careers in personal training, health education, and athletic settings, while the Bachelor of Science degree provides rigorous preparation for medical school, physical therapy, physician assistant programs, and graduate study in exercise science or kinesiology. From their first year, students engage in laboratory work, fitness assessment, and research that prepares them to become skilled, evidence-based practitioners.
