Homecoming & Family Weekend Parent Schedule of Events

Please join us in supporting the college’s Fall Food Drive during over Homecoming & Family Weekend 2018. There is a collection bin in Bell Lobby (by Cafe 1812 in the Academic Center) where alumni, family & friends can donate non-perishable food items to the Central PA Food Bank. You can also use the virtual food bank to conveniently donate items online.

Lunch, on-course beverages and post-play hors d’oeuvres provided. A collared shirt is required. Cargo shorts and denim are not allowed.

Homecoming & Family Weekend Check-In and Registration - Burchfield Lounge

All are encouraged to sign-in, pick up your itinerary and Lycoming Athletics passes, and enjoy snacks with alumni and friends. Parents and families can also check-in for the Beer & Pretzel Tent at the registration table, allowing you to by-pass the line at the door.

A registration fee of $15 per family applies and includes many complimentary weekend events.

Archives Open House - The College Archives, located in Snowden Library

Join us for light refreshments and a stroll down memory lane. This event gladly accommodates walk-in guests.

4 p.m.

Barbara Haller Endowed Lectureship in Biology and Chemistry - G-11, Heim Science Building

Join Ellen Klinger, Ph.D. ’00, Research Entomologist from the USDA-ARS Pollinating Insect Research Unit, as she presents “Protecting Our Pollinators- The Buzz Behind Bee Disease” at 4 p.m.  Following the lecture, make your way to dinner in the Jonas Room in the Wertz Student Center.

Food Truck Festival - College Place

Plan to spend time on College Place where alumni, parents, students and friends can enjoy dinner from local favorite food trucks on campus for the evening, and Ravert's Musical Instruments by John Ravert '72. Some vendors only accept cash. An ATM is available on the second floor of the Wertz Student Center. College Place will be closed to all traffic to accommodate this festival.

4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Senior Class Reception at the President’s House - 325 Grampian Boulevard, Williamsport

President Kent Trachte and Dr. Sharon Trachte invite members of the senior class and their families to a reception at the President’s House. Refreshments will be served.
This event is open to members of the Class of 2019 and their families. Parking is available south of Grampian Blvd., on Florence Street and Harding Avenue.

Homecoming & Family Weekend Concert - Clarke Chapel

Join the Lycoming College Band and Chamber Choir for an evening performance featuring talented Lycoming students.

Beer & Pretzel Tent - Fultz Quadrangle

Make plans to attend the event that kicks Homecoming into high gear! Gather with new and old friends for snacks, and fill your cup with beverages brewed by talented Lycoming alumni, including Yuengling, Tröegs and Rusty Rail beers, and Frozen Run white birch beer. This event is open to all alumni and family members, as well as seniors (Class of 2019) age 21 and over.  Parents/family members may use the online form to register, but students MUST pre-register in the student involvement office on the 3rd floor of the Wertz Student Center by October 11 to be able to attend.

Enjoy visiting with students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends around a huge fire as we eat s'mores and get pumped up for the athletics competition and activities to be held this weekend!

Songs for a New World - Mary Lindsay Welch Honors Hall

This contemporary abstract musical (song cycle) weaves characters and history together, illuminating the timelessness of self-discovery. It's about one moment. It's about hitting the wall and having to make a choice... or take a stand... or turn around and go back. These are the stories and characters of today, the Songs for a New World. The first musical from Tony Award winner, Jason Robert Brown (Parade, Bridges of Madison County), this moving collection of powerful songs examines life, love and the choices that we make.

Coffee and Tea with the Freshman Dean - G-11, Heim Science Building

Join Andrew Kilpatrick, associate dean of student success & academic services and dean of first year students, for a fun, funny, fast-pace photographic journey of what the Class of 2022 has been up to since 1st Weekend as they find their place in this excellent academic community. Dean Kilpatrick will also talk about what’s coming up, including some tips for encouraging your students to learn and succeed as Warriors.

9 a.m. Brandy Lee Sudol Auction - East Hall Coffee House

Gamma Delta Sigma invites you to a basket raffle held to honor the memory of a lost sister, Brandy Lee Sudol '91, who died of Hodgkin’s disease. Funds raised will support a scholarship in Brandy’s honor.

Enjoy a Planetarium show in the Detwiler Planetarium.

Park and Ride to the Shangraw Athletic Complex - Academic Center Parking Lot

The Peter Herdic Trolley will provide continuous round-trip transportation from the Academic Center parking lot to the Shangraw Athletic Complex. We hope you will make use of this fun and efficient shuttle.

11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“OX” Roast Tailgate Lunch - Shangraw Athletic Complex

Join alumni, friends and families at a tailgate lunch under the tent at the Shangraw Athletic Complex. Lycoming’s fraternity, Theta Chi (OX), enjoyed a long-standing tradition of slow-roasting beef overnight in a fire pit before serving it up on sandwiches at the Homecoming football games. We worked with Theta Chi alumni to recreate the “OX” Roast for Homecoming this year and can’t wait to see you there. This event is family friendly and features a bounce house for the kids!

$15 per person
$15 per Lycoming student

Menu: Beef pit sandwiches with dipping sauces, chicken corn chowder, homemade chips, cookies, lemonade and water. Beer will be available to those age 21 and over.
We will not be able to offer substitutions on this menu for those with dietary restrictions. We apologize for the inconvenience.

12 p.m. Women's Soccer Match: Lycoming vs. Arcadia - Shangraw Athletic Complex

Cheer on the Lycoming Warrior Football team and enjoy time outdoors with alumni, families and current students.

Lycoming Party at Pine Square - 343 Pine Street

Head downtown to Pine Square, the hot spot to find alumni, students, families and plenty of Warrior spirit! Food and beverage are available for purchase at The Brickyard Restaurant & Ale House and The Stonehouse Wood-Fired Pizza and Pasteria, as well as Boom City Brewing Co., just outside of Pine Square.

Family Friendly Entertainment: Magician Joseph Réohm Clarke Chapel

Joseph Réohm is the APCA 2017 Magician of the Year! His comedy magic show keeps your guests laughing and engaged the entire time. His show is filled with edgy, mind-blowing award-winning magic loaded with quick wit and audience participation, guests don’t just watch a show, they become part of one.
