Call for Papers - Humanities Research Conference
The Lycoming College Humanities Research Center is seeking submissions from currently enrolled undergraduate students for our annual Undergraduate Humanities Research Conference. The conference is a one-day, in-person event hosted Saturday, April 11, 2026, on the Lycoming College campus.
Submissions for consideration should feature advanced undergraduate research in humanities and related disciplines: history, literature, philosophy, art history, modern & classical languages, religious studies, interdisciplinary humanistic studies, digital humanities, and social sciences with humanistic emphasis. Digital media projects and advanced work in translation are welcome. Additionally, this year’s conference will include an open mic panel session featuring the creative work of Lycoming College and area writers. If you would like to be a part of the open mic session, please contact Dr. Phoebe Wagner (wagnerp@lycoming.edu) for more information.
The conference is free and open to the public. There will be awards for individual papers of excellence, and presenters will be invited to submit their research for subsequent consideration of publication in the Mid-Atlantic Humanities Review: A Journal of Undergraduate Research. The HRC is excited to announce that this year’s keynote speaker will be Dr. Scott Manning Stevens, Director of the Center for Global Indigenous Cultures and Environmental Justice at Syracuse University.
To be considered for conference participation, please submit your name, institution, email address, faculty research supervisor, paper title, and an abstract (200-300 words) via email to HRC@lycoming.edu by February 6, 2026. Abstracts may feature works in progress, but they should detail strong argumentative trajectories and research parameters indicative of advanced undergraduate work. Abstracts will be reviewed and acceptances confirmed by February 27, 2026. Conference presentations of 15 minutes should feature complete or nearly complete research. Digital supplements to presentations are welcome but not necessary.
For further information, please contact the Humanities Research Center at Lycoming College (HRC@lycoming.edu or 570-321-4099). Follow conference developments and the HRC at www.lycoming.edu/hrc and on Facebook.
