Student Employment

We offer a number of employment and work-study positions in the Theatre Department. Each year, 15-20 students work alongside faculty and staff in our Scene Shop, Costume Shop, Box Office, and the Theatre Department Office.

Light Shop Supervisor

Working in tandem with the Head of Design, facilitates the day to day activities of the light shop. The student gains practical experience maintaining lighting instruments and accessory’s, filling lighting rental packages for on and off campus support, working as or with a Master Electrician to facilitate a safe and effective light hang.

Scene Shop Foreman

Working in tandem with the Technical Director, facilitates the day to day activities of the scene shop. The student gains practical experience through leading student build crews, maintaining the shops equipment, creative problem solving design challenges, drafting technical drawings and building projects.

Scenic Carpenters

Entry level position. This position builds the student’s knowledge of tools, their usage, and practical application. Industry standard fabrication techniques are utilized while senior carpenters lead student crews through the scenic fabrication process.

Box Office Manager/ Box Office Marketing Manager

A student work study position that combines, business, marketing, entrepreneurship, and theatre together. Students across campus have the opportunity to interview for the student Box Office Manager position and/or student Box Office Worker position.

Costume Shop Employment

Each year, all Lycoming College students have the opportunity to interview for one of 6 available positions in the costume shop. Employees can expect to learn and implement a very desirable skill set associated with historical craftsmanship, as well as interact with the ever evolving technology and array of advanced textiles that drives much of today's designs.
