Academic Services

The primary goal of Academic Services is to support, encourage and challenge our students in their efforts to learn and be successful at Lycoming College and beyond. Our programs and services are designed for all Lycoming students and are offered at no additional charge. This includes ARC 100 (a zero-credit study skills workshop that meets for seven weeks each semester), the Academic Resource Center, the Writing Center, the Math Center, subject tutoring program, study group program, services for students with disabilities, services for international students, group and one-on-one meetings with students, and a program for students on academic probation.

Streeter Campus Store

The Streeter Campus Store is located on the second floor in the Wertz Student Center. In addition to Lycoming College clothing and novelty items, students may also purchase school and course related supplies, Warrior Coffee and Sport Specific items. Students may use the following forms of payment when making purchases: cash, debit,  MasterCard, Visa, Discover, Am Express, Apple Pay and student IDs, Receipts are required for all returns. During the school year, normal business hours are Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Throughout the year, there may be additional times that the Campus Store will be open. In advance, we will publish these hours. Closed on Saturdays during the summer months. Textbooks and/or related course materials may be purchased at http://bookstore.mbsdirect.net/lycoming.htm.

Information Technology Services

To support the educational mission of the college, Lycoming has networked the entire campus. High-speed networking is in place between all buildings on campus to support wired and wireless connectivity. Approximately 750 technology devices are deployed to support students, faculty, staff, classrooms, and computer labs.

Computer Labs

General purpose computer labs containing Windows PCs are located in the Academic Center (B201, B301) and the Lynn Science Center (G57).  General purpose computers are also available on the first floor of the Snowden Library.  Specialized computer labs include the Digital Media Lab located in the Communications Building (FVA-101), the Digital Arts Lab located in the Fine Arts Building (FA-103), and the Theatre Design Lab (AC-CSB104) located in the Academic Center.  These specialized media, art, and design labs contain high end Apple/Mac and Windows computers and run specialized software specific to each discipline.  The Fine Arts Lab also contains Wacom digital drawing tablets and enhanced printing/scanning capabilities.  A specialized Linux computer lab containing high end desktop PCs is located in the Academic Center (AC-A3).  More information on software in the labs is available under "Computer Labs" on the ITS home page.

General purpose computer labs (B201, B301, and Lynn G-57) are open 24 hours a day 7 days a week during the Academic Year using your Lycoming ID for access.  Schedules for these labs are posted online.  Specialized computer labs are restricted to students enrolled in specific programs or courses but are also open 24 hours a day 7 days a week during the Academic Year.  Hours may vary during the summer, semester breaks, and holidays.  Classes are scheduled in the labs during the semester.  If you have any questions about computer lab availability or software access, call the ITS Service Center number at 570-321-4150.

Residence Hall Internet Access, Administrative Information & Other Resources

Access to Internet resources is available to all students at Lycoming from the labs and from their rooms in the residence halls which includes wired and wireless access. Prior to First-Year Orientation, students are given a username and password that provides access to email, the myLyco portal, Office 365, and Lyco Advisor Self-Service. Moodle is the official course management program that is also used as an eReserve system in cooperation with the Snowden Library.

All wired and wireless connections on campus require a user's device to be registered on our security system and have current updates for Windows and Apple. Financial Aid

The Office of Financial Aid provides a variety of services and information to our students including:

  • Notification of student eligibility for financial aid
  • Financial aid counseling for both students and parents
  • Information concerning various sources of financial aid
  • Information regarding on-campus student employment
  • Educational loan counseling
  • Information regarding students' rights and responsibilities as financial aid recipients.
  • Assistance with completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

In addition to taking advantage of these services, students are encouraged to contact the office if any unforeseen financial difficulties arise during the course of the academic year.

Jack's Corner

Jack's Corner is located in the Wertz Student Center and offers a late night dining option.  Offering a variety of made-to-order meals, snacks, and bottled beverages after the dining hall closes.  Menu items include traditional grilled options and appetizers, pizza, quesadillas and more.  Jack's also features a market that offers a selection of convenience products and health & beauty needs.  Orders may be placed using the GET mobile app if desired.  This location is open Monday thru Friday 7:30 PM to 11:30 PM and Saturday & Sunday 6:30 PM to 11:30 PM.

Café 1812, Pennington Lounge, Academic Center

Café 1812 features organic and fairly traded Lycoming Warrior Blend coffees and espresso drinks, roasted by Alabaster Coffee of Williamsport, PA.  In addition to coffee, Cafe 1812 offers a variety of made-to-order sandwiches and salads, and a great selection of freshly made On the Go! choices.  Orders may be placed using the GET mobile app if desired.  Cafe 1812 hours of operation are Monday thru Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Gateway Cafe, The Krapf Gateway Center

The Gateway Cafe is another convenient dining retail location offering customizable smoothies made from fresh fruit, hand pressed panini sandwiches, an assortment of espresso drinks, and a great selection of freshly made On the Go! choices.  The Gateway Cafe is open Monday thru Friday, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Recreation Areas

Lycoming's Fultz Quad is a popular area for outdoor activities. You are also encouraged to use the Intramural Field off of Mulberry Street, and the Keiper Recreation Center. The Shangraw Athletic Complex has Varsity Athletic fields used for Varsity sports. Brandon Park (just north of campus) has tennis courts for recreational use.

Keiper Recreation Center

Pursuing a healthy lifestyle is all about choice, and with the help of Lycoming College Campus Recreation, you can choose to develop healthy habits to continue enjoying well after your collegiate experience.  Students that participate in Campus Recreation step up as leaders and form valuable connections.  Through student-led programming, intramural sports, and collaboration with other departments on campus and the Williamsport community, you will have an outlet to discover the value in leading a healthy lifestyle.

The Keiper Recreation Center provides opportunities for students, faculty and staff under the umbrella of recreation, health and wellness.  The 54,000 square foot Keiper Recreation Center, built in 2004, houses a suspended indoor track overlooking 4 multipurpose courts for basketball, volleyball, tennis, pickleball and other activities. The Rec Center also includes a weight room/toning room and fitness center, both with state of the art equipment, as well as locker rooms and sauna. The swimming pool is accessible at varying times for open swim. Fitness classes such as Yoga and HITT are also offered throughout the semester.  The intramural sports program is designed to provide a well-rounded program of competitive and recreational sports throughout the academic year.  Through participation, individuals can develop an appreciation for the use of leisure time, a wholesome attitude toward physical endeavors and the desire for life-sports.  The recreation and intramural sports program is open to all students, faculty and staff of the College.  Each semester, a variety of sports are offered, including volleyball, flag football, indoor soccer, basketball and many others.

Lamade Gymnasium

Lamade Gym contains three basketball courts and seating for 2,300. A swimming pool and gallery that seats 210, a Varsity Athletic Training Room, a "multipurpose" room and sauna are all housed in Lamade Gymnasium (which is part of the Keiper Recreation Center). Lamade Gym is also the site of the Athletic Department offices and the Director of Campus Recreation and Intramural Sport’s office.

Snowden Library

Snowden Library is located in the east wing of the Academic Center. The library is both a physical space and a robust virtual space.  The library staff is committed to helping you develop your research and information skills. Here are some of our services:

  • Active instruction/information literacy program that enhances your critical thinking skills and your ability to find and use information resources
  • Knowledgeable librarians to help you with your information needs
  • Online databases accessible off campus
  • Gateway to services and academic online resources via the Snowden Library Web site: www.lycoming.edu/library/
  • Document delivery/interlibrary loan (ILL) service
  • Reference and research support available in person, by email

Remember that your current college ID is needed to borrow library materials and to use reserve items.

Wertz Student Center

The Wertz Student Center is the activity center on campus. It is designed to serve the needs of the students, faculty, and staff as a social, recreational, and cultural center. All groups on campus, including summer conference groups, are considered to be a part of the College and are welcome to use the building and all of its facilities while they are guests. The facilities and College-owned equipment in the Wertz Student Center are provided at no cost to the student. The proper care of the building, furnishings, and equipment are the responsibility of all who use them.

The public rooms in the Wertz Student Center may not be reserved for the exclusive use of groups in which attendance is limited to their membership. Any exception to this general rule must be approved by the Director of Student Involvement or the President of the College.
