Special Opportunities

Travel Abroad

Students planning an International Studies major are encouraged to study for a semester abroad at one our affiliate programs in England, Ecuador, France and Spain, or in a country which best suits their interests and needs. Also recommended is a semester at Lycoming’s Washington D.C. program through The American University or The United Nations Semester through Drew University.

The Washington D.C. Semester

The Washington Semester in conjunction with American University, offers students the opportunity to get up close and personal with the inner workings of American and International governments, trade agencies, and various lobbying and interest groups. Students can choose from seven academic tracks including Foreign Policy, International Development, or Economic Policy.

The United Nations Semester

Selected students may also enroll in the United Nations Semester at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey. During this semester, you and your fellow classmates will spend two days each week at the United Nations headquarters in the heart of New York City. There you will observe first hand the workings of global governance and learn from primary sources how UN Policy is developed and implemented. Students complete a major research paper and are taught to conduct interviews and gather data from people within the UN secretariat, various global delegations, special agencies, and other non-governmental organizations.
