Lycoming College takes a holistic approach to evaluating a student's application. Talents, interests, and career goals are just as important as the academic record.
The following materials are required for first-year applicants:
- An online application: Lycoming Fast Application, Common Application, or Coalition Application (Powered by Scoir)
- Official high school transcripts
- SAT or ACT scores or if applying test optional please indicate on your application.
- One letter of recommendation
- Personal essay — Use an application prompt, tell us why you want to join the Lycoming family or write about a topic you feel represents you and tells us more about you.
The college application process can be stressful, especially if a student knows that their standardized test scores don't reflect their full potential. While many of our incoming students place in the top two-fifths of their graduating class and have above average SAT or ACT scores, we're happy to evaluate the rigor of a student's high school classes, GPA, letters of recommendation, and extracurricular activities in lieu of these scores.
If applying test optional, students should indicate this on their application.
If students are sitting for a test, they should include our SAT Code (2372) or ACT Code (3622).
November 15 — Early Decision
Common Application is required. If your student says Lycoming is their top choice or only choice for college, early decision is the best option. Students will know their acceptance status by December 1.
December 1 — Early Action
Students are encouraged to get a head start on the application process. Early action allows them to receive an admission decision by December 15, without a binding commitment.
December 16 — Regular Action
Beginning December 16 (for Fall enrollment) and December 1 (for Spring enrollment), we will review applications on a rolling basis. Admissions decisions begin January 1 and continue every 15th of the month on a rolling basis.

Students and families are encouraged to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible after it opens on October 1 so that we can determine their complete aid eligibility. Remember to enter our school code on the FAFSA form: 003293.
Founded in 1812, Lycoming College is one of the 50 oldest private liberal arts and sciences institutions in the nation. Situated in the heart of Pennsylvania, Williamsport is overflowing with appreciation for art, culture, and the great outdoors. From Open Houses and large group visits to individual visits and virtual opportunities, Lycoming College offers a variety of ways to help students discover more about us. We also offer a “Day in the Life of a Warrior” exclusively for high school seniors in which students can sit in on a class, speak with a faculty member or coach, and have lunch with a current student in addition to the typical tour and counselor meeting.
