Responding to Immigration Officers
If you receive a phone call, email, or in-person visit from an ICE agent or law enforcement inquiry about one of our community members, remain calm and remember your role is to direct them to the designated offices at Lycoming that handle all law enforcement inquiries.
Lycoming College community members do not ask for immigration status. The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) restricts what College officials can disclose from a student's education record without express permission. College records cannot be shared with anyone in the public unless the College is presented with a valid judicial subpoena or arrest warrant. In those circumstances, Lycoming will cooperate with legal obligations by sharing information.
If you believe there is an ICE agent on campus or you are approached by one, please contact the following offices or direct the agent to one of the following locations:
- Public Safety: 570-321-4064 or 570-321-4911;
Public Safety is open after business hours
- Dean of Students Office: 570-321-4399, Wertz 3rd floor
- Vice President for Student Affairs and Success Office: 570-321-4039, Long Hall 102
