Setting up Outlook for Mac and iOS devices
Outlook for Mac/iOS supports the integration of third-party email accounts, so it’s possible to add personal accounts (e.g. Gmail, iCloud, etc.) to Outlook to allow consolidated viewing of email and calendars. To add an account, follow these steps:
For Mac desktops or laptops:
- Open Outlook for Mac
- Click “Outlook” in the upper left-hand corner (menu bar) and select “Settings.”
- Click on “Accounts.”
- Select “Add New Account.”
- Type in the external email address that you’d like to link to Outlook (e.g. Lycos@gmail.com).
- Follow the prompts to sign in to and import the external account. Make sure that the “Calendar” option is turned on during the setup process.
For iOS devices:
- Open the Outlook app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap the profile icon in the upper left-hand corner.
- Tap the Settings (gear) icon at the bottom of the menu.
- Select General>Accounts.
- Select Add Account>Email Account.
- Enter the email address that you’d like to link to Outlook (e.g. lycos@gmail.com)
- Follow the prompts to sign in and authorize the external account.
- Once the account is set up, check the settings for the new account and verify that “Sync Calendar” is enabled.
To view calendars from external accounts in Outlook for Mac or iOS, open the Calendar view and check the respective box next to the account calendar that you’d like to view. Boxes for multiple accounts can be checked, allowing you to view events for multiple calendars simultaneously.
Because user interfaces on Microsoft and Apple devices can change without notice, the above steps may not be precisely accurate for all users. If you need assistance, please contact ITS or visit the IT Service Desk in Snowden Library.
