Stop Campus Hazing Act
The Stop Campus Hazing Act is a federal law that was enacted in December 2024 with unanimous support in Congress. It is a significant step forward in national efforts to prevent and address hazing incidents on college and university campuses by improving reporting and prevention efforts.
Lycoming College takes hazing seriously and has worked to prevent hazing in any form on our campus. The Stop Campus Hazing Act adds another layer to our prevention efforts.
What does this mean?
- Campus Security Authorities (CSA’s) are now required to report hazing. For more information about CSA’s and the Clery Act, please visit our Annual Security and Fire Safety Report (Clery Report).
- Colleges and universities will need to disclose incidents of hazing on campus as a crime statistic in their Annual Security Report (ASR).
- Colleges and universities must publish a Hazing Transparency Report, with updates at least twice per year.
- Colleges and universities must provide campus-wide, research-based hazing prevention programs.
Important Dates
- Beginning January 1, 2025, colleges and universities must begin collecting hazing statistics.
- In July 2025 we updated our Hazing Policy to align with the Stop Campus Hazing Act.
- In December 2025, we will publish our first Campus Hazing Transparency Report which will summarize any reported hazing incidents, including the name of the student organization involved, description of the violation, the College's findings, and any sanctions imposed. The report will be updated at least twice per year.
