Sociology: Adjunct Professor
Special Interest: sociology of health and illness, sexual behavior, sociology of gender, qualitative methods
Angela Kurtz’s primary research interests are in the sociology of health and illness and the sociology of gender. Her research looks more specifically at gender differences in the promotion and maintenance of sexual health and safe sex practices among college students. She uses both quantitative and qualitative techniques to gain a more nuanced understanding of the processes that college men and women go through in obtaining information about sexual health and then using that information to make decisions within specific sexual encounters.
In her spare time, Kurtz enjoys cooking, reading, traveling and spending time with her husband and their lovable Bernese Mountain Dog, Jengo.
