Lycoming College today announced the appointment of Suzanne O’Driscoll to the inaugural position of vice president for student affairs and success. Reporting directly to the president and serving on the administrative cabinet, O’Driscoll will begin her new position on Sept. 29.
A dynamic and visionary student affairs professional, O’Driscoll brings to the table more than 20 years’ experience from across the student affairs spectrum. As the College’s chief student affairs officer, she will provide strategic leadership and direction in support of Lycoming’s mission. O’Driscoll will oversee student life, health services, counseling services, and student success, as well as the College’s NCAA division III athletics program. She will also work to initiate programs and collaborations that integrate academic, civic and community life, and oversee student success and retention efforts.
“I am thrilled to welcome Dr. O’Driscoll to the Lycoming College campus. Her extensive experience, ebullient presence, and commitment to the student experience were immediately apparent to the hiring committee and campus community through the search process,” said Chip Edmonds, president of Lycoming College. “I am confident that Sue will bring new ideas, vision, and dedication to our residential campus community as she builds on Lycoming’s existing strengths and traditions while also working with our very capable student affairs and success teams to create even greater opportunities for our students to thrive both in and outside of the classroom.”
Most recently, O’Driscoll served as associate vice president for student affairs/dean of students at Shenandoah University, where she led strategic direction for the institution’s high impact student affairs division. She acquired increasing responsibilities during her 14-year tenure at Shenandoah, where she held multiple roles prior, all within student affairs. O’Driscoll played a pivotal role in expanding mental health and well-being resources, while also advancing care team practices and strengthening crisis response efforts to better support the campus community. Prior to that, O’Driscoll held positions at Bridgewater College and at State University of New York at New Paltz.
“I’m grateful for this extraordinary opportunity to help shape the student experience in bold and innovative ways,” said O’Driscoll. “I look forward to collaborating with students, faculty, and staff to help foster a campus culture where every student feels they belong and can thrive. From the moment I stepped on campus, I felt the energy, purpose, and deep sense of community that make Lycoming College so special!”
O’Driscoll has presented at conferences and completed professional development courses and trainings in the field of higher education, including an American Council on Education (ACE) Fellowship. In addition, she has taught college courses in leadership, communications, writing, and business, and been honored with several leadership and service awards.
O’Driscoll holds a doctoral degree of professional studies in organizational leadership from Shenandoah University, an M.A. in organizational communications from Iona College, and a B.A. in public relations from Marist College.
