The Lycoming College music department and the St. John School of the Arts, in collaboration with the Community Arts Center (CAC), will unite to present Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's “The Nutcracker” on Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 2 at 4 p.m. at the CAC in downtown Williamsport.

Start the holiday season on a high-note with this family-friendly ballet about a young girl, Clara, who falls asleep after a Christmas Eve party at her home and dreams of a fantastic world where toys come to life. In her dream, Clara’s beloved Nutcracker defends her from the Mouse King and his soldier mice. The Lycoming College and Williamsport communities are invited to relive the magic of the Land of the Sweets and the Sugar Plum Fairy with “The Nutcracker,” one of the most famous ballets in the world.

William Ciabattari, Ph.D., associate professor and chair of the music department at Lycoming College, will conduct the orchestra, made up of Lycoming faculty, students, and area professionals. Dancers will perform under the direction of Theresa Kendall, ballet and modern dance instructor at the Saint John’s School of the Arts located in Williamsport, which offers training in music and the fine arts to area youth and adults.

Public tickets range from $15-26 and can be purchased online at www.caclive.com or by calling the CAC box office at 570-324-2424.
