Biochemistry Learning Goals

Students in the biochemistry major can expect to achieve the following learning goals:

Demonstrate an understanding of biochemical principles
Exhibit proficiency with wet laboratory and instrumental techniques as appropriate to the discipline of biochemistry
Exhibit integrative, problem-solving skills, such as experimental design, data
manipulation, and data interpretation
Communicate the results of biochemical investigations effectively in written and oral form
Search the relevant literature, evaluate the results of the search, and access desired
research materials
Demonstrate responsible conduct in the laboratory, including laboratory safety and
ethical research practices
