Biochemistry Learning Goals

Students in the biochemistry major can expect to achieve the following learning goals:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of biochemical principles
  • Exhibit proficiency with wet laboratory and instrumental techniques as appropriate to the discipline of biochemistry
  • Exhibit integrative, problem-solving skills, such as experimental design, data
    manipulation, and data interpretation
  • Communicate the results of biochemical investigations effectively in written and oral form
  • Search the relevant literature, evaluate the results of the search, and access desired
    research materials
  • Demonstrate responsible conduct in the laboratory, including laboratory safety and
    ethical research practices
