Departmental Honors

The Departmental Honors Program is designed for exceptionally well-qualified students who seek to complete the academic major with a senior project involving considerable self-direction. Students apply for admission to the Departmental Honors Program during their junior year. Students interested in pursuing departmental honors should consult with their academic advisor and review the College Catalog for program specifics.

Students pursuing departmental honors projects are encouraged to also apply to the Joanne and Arthur Haberberger Fellowship Program. This program awards research fellowships to Lycoming College students to support senior-level scholarly projects in the liberal arts and sciences. Recognized as “Haberberger Fellows,” these students conduct research projects of sufficient merit to qualify for senior departmental honors in a discipline at Lycoming College. Applications for the Haberberger Fellowships are submitted during the spring semester of the junior year and are awarded on a competitive basis.

For more information on the Joanne and Arthur Haberberger Fellowship Program, please contact the Center for Enhanced Academic Experiences.
