Associate for Federal Policy at the Data Quality Campaign; adjunct professor at Trinity Washington University in Washington, DC.

In August 2004, I arrived at Lycoming College ready to embark on a journey that would change my life forever. I knew that the transition to college would be tough, but I had no idea how difficult my first semester would be. As a first-generation college student, I felt added pressure to succeed. Through hard work and support from my professors, I was able to flourish in the classroom and take advantage of the wonderful leadership opportunities that Lycoming has to offer.

Upon graduating from Lycoming, I was 1 of 25 individuals from across the country selected for a Public Policy Fellowship from the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute in Washington, D.C. I had the opportunity to work on Capitol Hill and the Department of Education on federal education policy. I also pursued a M.A. in Higher Education Policy from the University of Maryland, College Park.

At the Data Quality Campaign, I analyze federal legislation, advocate for effective policies and write publications and blogs on the importance of data in K-12 and postsecondary education. I specialize in early warning systems and high school feedback reports. I’ve also had the opportunity to use my expertise to improve education policies abroad. I recently completed a U.S. State Department funded international fellowship in Paraguay where I developed education policy recommendations to help boost graduation rates. I’ve also had the opportunity to continue my commitment to service that blossomed at Lycoming. I’m an adjunct professor at Trinity Washington University, I mentor students in D.C. and serve on multiple boards, including the Lycoming College Alumni Association Executive Board.

I wouldn’t be where I am today without my experience at Lycoming. The adversity that I faced helped shape my character and the opportunities that I afforded helped propel my career. I hope that your experience at Lycoming will do the same for you!
