Lycoming College President Chip Edmonds, Ed.D., has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania (AICUP), with his term beginning July 1. Edmonds is one of nine higher education leaders newly elected to statewide roles on the board this year.
AICUP represents the largest sector of higher education in Pennsylvania, comprising more than 80 independent nonprofit colleges and universities that together serve hundreds of thousands of students across the Commonwealth. The organization's board is composed entirely of college presidents from member schools.
"It's an honor to join the AICUP Board and to work alongside fellow presidents from across Pennsylvania on behalf of independent higher education," said Edmonds. "Our sector plays an outsized role in preparing students for careers and lives of purpose, and I look forward to advocating for the policies and partnerships that keep a Lycoming education, as well as an independent college education more broadly, accessible and affordable for students across the Commonwealth."
Edmonds, a 1998 graduate of Lycoming College, took office as the College's president on July 1, 2025, following eight years as executive vice president. He holds a bachelor's degree in history and music from Lycoming, a master of divinity from Duke University, and a doctoral degree in higher education management from the University of Pennsylvania.
