Lycoming College invites the Williamsport community and surrounding areas to enjoy a free show in its Detwiler Planetarium on Friday, Oct. 3, with shows at 5 p.m. and 5:45 p.m.

Join us at the planetarium for “Stories from the Stars” and “From Our Milky Way to the Pleiades,” two engaging short shows that bring the night sky to life. In “Stories from the Stars,” Learn about the stories created by shapes in the night sky. Explore not only the ‘official’ shapes of the sky, but also those from different civilizations. And ponder what other stories there could be. Then, in “From Our Milky Way to the Pleiades,” journey through the night sky to explore the stories of the Pleiades and surrounding constellations, with a look at the bigger picture of the Milky Way. Discover various fall/winter constellations and the Pleiades, while coming to understand how our ancestors have gazed upon the stars and wondered for generations.

This event is free and open to the public, with shows starting at 5 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. To secure your spot, reserve free tickets via BigTickets https://www.bigtickets.com/events/lycoming-college-astronomy-dept/ beginning Friday, September 26th. Doors will open 15 minutes before start of each show. Please note that there will be no admittance after the show begins. You can find us at the Lynn Science Center, located on the corner of Washington Boulevard and Mulberry Street.
