Provost and Dean of the Faculty, Associate Professor of Economics

Sprunger began serving as provost and dean of the college in 2011 and as provost and dean of the faculty in 2022. He arrived at Lycoming in 1993 as assistant professor of economics (later associate professor) and served in that role until 2011. As professor, he was presented with the college’s Constance Cupp Plankenhorn Alumni Award for Faculty Excellence in 2004. As provost, Sprunger has overseen an overhaul and improvement of the general education program, the addition of numerous new majors, and multiple successful accreditation cycles. Sprunger earned a Ph.D. and master’s degree in economics from Indiana University (Bloomington) and a bachelor’s degree in business administration and German from Bethel College in Kansas.
