Dr. Hannah Espy is an Assistant Professor of Sociology, and joined the Department of Anthropology/Sociology at Lycoming College in 2023 after earning her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Iowa. Her research interrogates how the ‘hidden curriculum’ of preschools contribute to the reproduction of educational inequality. In other research she studies how Americans make sense of the role that luck plays in their professional and personal successes. At Lycoming, she teaches courses on inequality, social networks, food, and gender and sexuality.
