In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing regulations, the Lycoming College Senior Art show has been displayed in an online format this year. This digital exhibition features the thesis works of Lycoming College graduating senior art students. The art gallery is available to view at https://www.lycoming.edu/art/senior-show/20/.

The Lycoming College Juried Senior Show is the culmination of thesis projects for all seniors with a major in studio art. All studio art majors are required to produce a cohesive body of professional thesis work and must be chosen by an outside juror to exhibit in the Senior Show in order to graduate. The juror for this year’s thesis exhibition was originally planned to be Eva Frosch, the owner of Frosch & Portmann, a gallery located on the Lower East Side of New York City. However, a few days before her scheduled arrival, the nation went on lockdown due to COVID-19, and Frosch was unable to fill the role.

“The students worked hard on their senior projects and Lycoming College’s art department believes that, at a later date, they will be able to showcase their fantastic work at the Lycoming College Art Gallery in downtown Williamsport,” said Andreas Rentsch, assistant professor of photography at Lycoming College.

The 2020 Senior Art Show features works from the following, including artist statements:

  • Ariana Breen ’20 (Silver Spring, Md.) – art major; criminal justice and criminology minor
  • Jordan Lynn ’20 (Ralston, Pa.) – art major
  • Ashley Nelson ’20 (South Williamsport, Pa.) – art major; 2D animation and business administration minor
  • Hope Nemceff ’20 (Phoenixville, Pa.) – art major; 2D animation minor
  • Jessalyn Smith ’20 (East Windsor, Ct.) – art major; entrepreneurship minor
  • Jessica Wyse ’20 (Succasunna, N.J.) – art major; psychology minor
  • Xiyue Yang ’20 (Beijing, China) – art major

Lycoming College's art program offers all the benefits of a standalone art school while also providing a traditional liberal arts education, giving students exciting, inspiring opportunities and opening their minds to broader possibilities. The art department is recognized for its innovative program, cutting-edge digital design, and exceptional faculty of teachers and practicing professional artists. Students graduate equipped with everything they need to succeed as working professional artists, graphic/web designers, photographers, teachers, art therapists, conservators, curators, gallerists, animators, or in their pursuit of a higher degree.
