Rosheka Faulkner is an Assistant Professor in Criminal Justice and Criminology. Her teaching is grounded in bell hooks’ engaged pedagogy, and she enjoys teaching courses such as Criminology, Research Methods, Community Corrections, and Critical Criminology.
Using largely qualitative methods, her research centers sound science and a critical criminological lens to expand alternatives to incarceration, such as opioid courts, behavioral health treatment for young people, and restorative justice practices. Some of her current works highlight the lives of returning citizens and investigate the intersection of religion and restorative justice through a case study of a Black faith-rooted organization, exploring how their theological frameworks shape their engagement with restorative justice practices.
