2012 Alumni Weekend FAQs

Where will I check in when I arrive?

Check in will be held in Rich Hall on Friday, May 11, 2012 from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. and on Saturday, May 12, 2012 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. If you arrive outside of those hours, you will need to contact a member of safety and security at (570) 321-4064 to check in.

If I choose the room and board option, which residence hall will I live in?

Williams and Crever are the two residence halls being used for alumni weekend. Each room has 2 twin beds and is suited with another room, combined by a shared bathroom.

Can I choose my roommate?

Certainly! If you would like to have a roommate, please indicate your preference on your registration form. Most rooms have 2 twin beds. We have limited triples, available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you would like to stay in a triple, please call Amy Dowling at (570) 321-4134.

What if I don't have a roommate? Will one be randomly assigned to me?

No way! If you do not have a preferred roommate, you will be assigned to a single room.

Can I choose my suitemate(s)?

If you have a preferred suitemate, you will indicate your preference on your registration form. Although preferred suitemates are not guaranteed, we promise to try our best to accommodate all requests!

Will I need to bring my own linens?

Each person choosing the room and board option receives a linen bundle containing a fitted sheet, flat sheet, pillowcase, thermal blanket, bath towel, hand towel and washcloth. Anything else you'd like to bring is at your option.

How will I access the residence halls?

Upon check in, you will receive a key to your room and an alumni weekend ID that will give you proxy access to your residence hall.

Do I need to carry my ID with me throughout the weekend?

We strongly encourage you to carry your ID with you, as you will need it to access the residence halls and will swipe it to gain access to the dining hall for your meals and at the other ancillary events.

Are we celebrating class reunions during Alumni Weekend 2012?

No, traditional class reunions (25th, 50th) will be celebrated during Homecoming Weekend, to be held October 19-21, 2012. However, Lycoming College will have decade reunions during alumni weekend. As many of your friends on campus during your college years may have been in classes ahead or behind you, this presents an opportunity for alumni to reconnect with a broader range of peers.

Do I have to go to the decade reunion that corresponds with my class year?

Certainly not! We understand that many alumni (especially those who are close to the change of the decade) may more closely identify with different a decade from their class year. Please feel free to attend the reunion for the decade which you most closely identify yourself… or attend two! The idea of the decade reunion is to be flexible and inclusive... have fun!

Are children welcome at alumni weekend activities?

Children are welcome at alumni weekend although there are no specific children's activities planned. Please keep in mind the programming offered during the weekend when deciding if you should bring your family. Blessed Beginnings, a child care facility owned and operated by alumna Tatum (Smith) Heiser '98, has offered to provide babysitting on Friday and Saturday nights from 6 p.m. until midnight at their facility in South Williamsport. Please call her directly at (570) 244-8370 for rates and availability.

If I'm not staying on campus, do I have to register for events ahead of time, or may I simply "walk in."

Advance registration is required for the golf tournament, beer and wine tasting event and Saturday evening's Bicentennial Bash on the Quad. All other events will gladly accept walk-ins!

Where should I park on campus?

Ticketing will be suspended for alumni weekend with the exception of designated 24 hour staff parking spots, and handicapped spots. Please feel free to park in any lot that is most convenient for you.
