Kara Reber will
enter her fifth season as head coach of the women's lacrosse
program in 2008. Reber is the fourth head coach in the
program's 10-year history.
Reber led the
Lady Warriors on a record-breaking campaign in 2006 that
culminated in a spot in the Middle Atlantic Conference
championship game, a pair of regional all-american awards, a
conference rookie of the year honor, and her first MAC Coach of
the Year accolade.
In 2007, she
coached the Lady Warriors to another 14-4 record and a second
straight MAC Playoff berth. Lycoming defeated two top-20
opponents on the season and, for several weeks, was nationally ranked by the Intercollegiate Women's
Lacrosse Coaches Association. After graduating only one senior
in 2007, Lycoming is poised to continue its success with a run
at the 2008 MAC Championship and the NCAA Playoffs.
Since 2004, Reber has
drastically turned over the Lady Warrior roster so that the quality and depth
of talent is by far the best it has been in program history.
Although last season ended in a loss in the second round of the
MAC Playoffs,
the squad equaled its team record of 14 regular-season victories
and set a new postseason scoring mark with 25 goals against
Scranton in round one. Lycoming's dynamic offense has
established itself as a dominant force in the MAC.
Reber
came to Lycoming after coaching soccer, basketball, and lacrosse
at Newark High School in New York. A 1999 graduate of Bowling
Green State University, Reber played both soccer and ice hockey
while earning a bachelor’s degree in sports management. She went
on to attend the State University of New York at Brockport and
earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education in May of 2001.
“I
was excited when Kara came to Lycoming, and now it's been
justified,” said Director of Athletics Frank Girardi. “We were confident that
she would inject new
enthusiasm into one of our youngest athletic programs, and build a
team that will be competitive at both the conference and
national level.”
