Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Beginning Fall 2023, all Lycoming accounts will require Multi-factor authentication (MFA) through the Microsoft Authenticator app. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact it.servicecenter@lycoming.edu or 570-321-4150.

First-year students doing their initial MFA setup should follow this guide instead of the instructions below.

You can check to see if your account is already set up for MFA by going to https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info and looking for Microsoft Authenticator in your list. If it is not listed, follow the steps below.

Set up the Microsoft Authenticator App

  1. Download the Microsoft Authenticator app for your phone:
  2. Open the Microsoft Authenticator app and click the + icon in the top right.
  3. Choose Work or school account and then sign in with your Lycoming credentials.
  4. You'll be asked to verify your identity using your phone number, which will complete the set up.

Changing the Default MFA Option

After you set up the Microsoft Authenticator app, making it the default MFA option is highly recommended — and it will soon become mandatory for all accounts.

  1. Go to https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info
  2. Next to the Default sign-in method, click Change.
  3. Choose App based authentication - notification and click Confirm.
