Strategic Planning Process

Lycoming College has begun a strategic planning process that will be broadly inclusive of constituencies who care about building an even Greater Lycoming. Working groups composed of faculty, students and professional staff will develop ideas and tactics under six areas of strategic focus. Alumni and friends are being invited to a series of alumni gatherings and online forums to participate in the process. The trustees will oversee the entire process and have the authority to approve the final plan.

The strategic plan is framed by three overarching questions: In what ways does Lycoming need to change or progress to become more like the very best liberal arts colleges? What are or can become Lycoming’s points of distinction that allow us to gain a competitive advantage in recruiting talented students and exceptional faculty? Where does Lycoming have an opportunity for national leadership?

The areas of strategic focus include

  1. Sustaining and Enhancing Academic Excellence
  2. Attracting and Graduating a Talented and High-Achieving Student Body
  3. Preparing, Launching and Sustaining Graduates on Trajectories of Success
  4. Integrating the Residential Experience and the Liberal Arts
  5. Deepening the Role of the College and Its Students as Citizens of Williamsport
