The Multiculturalism minor provides an opportunity for students who are interested in issues of diversity in American culture and history to pursue their studies within a recognized curriculum. A complementary minor to any liberal arts education, Multiculturalism may appeal, in particular, to those students interested in careers in social service, communication, or any area of public service. The Multiculturalism minor is part of the American Studies Program, but it is an interdisciplinary minor that combines course options from a variety of departments in the humanities and social sciences. The minor requires five courses that concentrate on the issues of ethnic and racial diversity that define American society, art, and history.
