New to Residence Halls

First-Year Students

All first year students live in one of our designated first-year residence areas in Asbury, Skeath, or Wesley Halls. The floors are co-ed by wing with an upperclass Resident Assistant (RA) for each wing. All halls are protected by a "keyless" entry system. Each student is issued an ID card which will allow access to all residence halls during the designated hours and their assigned residence hall 24/7.

Each hall is equipped with card swipe laundry facilities, a lounge, and snack and soda machines. All residence hall rooms are wired with internet service. Microwaves, refrigerators, and TVs are also allowed (within certain safety limits).

First year students are assigned a room by Residential Life staff based on preferences indicated on their Housing Agreement or on paperwork submitted during Orientation. Students may also choose their roommate if they wish. All campus buildings, including the Residence Halls are designated "Non-Smoking" areas. Special programming is offered through the First Year Residents Succeeding Together (FYRST) program to help students adjust to college living.

Upperclass Students

Returning upperclass students choose the room and building they want to live in each year. Room selection takes place each spring by a lottery system in which students are assigned a lottery number based on the number of credits they have completed. Students select their room in the order of their lottery numbers. New transfer students and readmitted students indicate their preferences on their Housing Agreement and are matched to a hall and roommate by Residential Life staff. Students may bring lofts to create more floor space.

Living Options

A variety of living options are available to upperclass students. Three of the residence halls - Crever, Rich and Williams - consist of two-room suites, which share a bathroom. Single room living with a shared bathroom is offered in Forrest Hall. For qualified students, the College offers several College Apartments and The Douthat Commons (apartment style living) within a block of campus.
