Blind Man, the autobiography of J.H. Maice, was
published by the United Evangelical Publishing House in 1904. While he used the MAICE spelling most of his
adult life, the family surname and the name on the graves of him and his wives

Mallory was received as a “local preacher on trial.” He apparently was never listed or appointed
as a local pastor. In 1925 he appears to
be living in Altoona and supplying Evangelical pulpits as a guest preacher,
possibly as a preacher in the Church of God.
The first name may be Leonard. He
appears to have worked in “the shops” and then left to do home missionary work
for the United Evangelical Church in Winterset IA.

Note: J. M. McKesson was appointed in 1853 to establish an English work in the West. June 28 he arrived in McDonough County IL and began his labors. He laid the foundations for the English work in western Illinois and eastern Iowa. Owing to ill health he did not continue the second year, and the Illinois Conference was asked to take charge of the work, owing to a scarcity of preachers in the Pittsburg Conference.
John M. McKesson became a medical doctor and about 1862 was one of the
founding pioneers of Lancaster [now Lincoln] Nebraska and of a Methodist school
there. He is a brother of pioneer
Evangelical minister Samuel W. McKesson (also born in York County PA) of Kansas
and Nebraska. Samuel’s son J.F.C.
McKesson was a prominent attorney and statesman who wrote on the history of
Lincoln and Nebraska.
