Melvin E. Wentzel
Education: Supervisor of Secondary Student Teachers
Mr. Wentzel majored in Social Studies at Mansfield University earning his Bachelor's degree and subsequently his Master's degree in Elementary Education as well as a Reading Specialist Certificate also from Mansfield University. While teaching in the Canton Area School District from 1974-1992 Mr. Wentzel went on to earn his Elementary and Secondary Principal's certification from Bucknell University. During his career he has taught Social Studies for 7th through 12th grades, Reading and Photography. Additionally, Mr. Wentzel has been a coach, yearbook advisor and multiple class and club advisor. From 1992-1997 he served as Assistant Principal for the Canton Area Jr.- Sr. High School when he came to the Williamsport Area High School as a House Principal serving from 1997 until his retirement from public school education in 2009.
Mr. Wentzel brings many varied practical experiences in teaching and administration to the Lycoming students. He is the Supervisor of Secondary Student Teachers and hopes to prepare his students for their future in teaching, the most fulfilling and rewarding career of all.
