Theatre: Visiting Assistant Professor
Theatre: Costume Design and Technology
Professor Towns credits her love for all areas of theatre to her undergraduate training with the Gainesville Theatre Alliance in Gainesville, GA. She received her Bachelor's degree from Brenau University while working as a stage manager, actress, and costume guru. After graduation, Professor Towns continued on to the University of Alabama to pursue her M.F.A. in Costume Design and Technology where she designed shows such as Hair, Candide, and the Alabama premier of the opera A Beautiful Bridegroom. Throughout her career, Professor Towns has had the pleasure to work with companies such as Glimmerglass Opera, Seaside Music Theatre, and the Texas Shakespeare Festival. In 2008 Professor Towns used her training in costume technology to assist with the Geneva English Drama Society's production of The Night of the Iguana in Geneva, Switzerland.
A special area of interest for Professor Towns is the art of puppetry, and she has worked as a craftsperson and costumer for the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta, GA, on several occasions. In 2010, Professor Towns worked with the C.P.A. to clothe the puppets for the premier production of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
