Education: Special Part-time Instructor
Nadine Sapiente is a native New Yorker. She received her undergraduate degree from the College of Staten Island. Her Master’s Degree is from Wagner College with a major in special education. She received her CAS from SUNY New Paltz in Education Administration and Supervision. She has taught at all levels from early childhood special needs classes to college classes. For over 31 years she taught for the Department of Defense Dependent Schools, serving the children of military service members who were in the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. She started as a preschool special education teacher, became the director of special education, and then served as an assistant principal and a principal. The majority of her career was overseas serving military families in more than 10 different countries from Portugal to Bahrain. Her last assignment for the Department of Defense Dependent Schools was at the West Point Military Academy, where she was the principal of the elementary school. Sapiente has taught for San Diego University and for Penn College of Technology. She enjoys many outdoor activities including running, biking, hiking and kayaking. She spends a lot of time with her therapy dog Hudson, visiting schools and libraries throughout the community.
