Ryan Phillips is an Assistant Professor of Political Science. His research and teaching interests are in comparative politics and political theory. He offers courses in comparative politics, European politics, democracy, modern political ideologies, social science methods as well as a first-year seminar that investigates depictions of democracy in film and fiction.
Professor Phillips' research focuses on the European Union, democracy and methodology. He is currently working on a book manuscript that addresses the constitutionalization of democracy in the EU since the early 1990s. His previous research has appeared in Comparative European Politics and The British Journal of Politics & International Relations. He has an edited volume titled “Decentring European Governance” under contract with Routledge.
Prior to arriving at Lycoming, Professor Phillips was a faculty member at Connecticut College and Kenyon College.
