Associate Professor of Education and Chair of the Department

Rachel Hickoff-Cresko earned her Doctor of Education degree with a specialization in reading and language arts from Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania. Additionally, she has a Master of Education degree specializing in teaching English learners, a Reading Specialist certification, elementary and special education certifications, and is a fellow of the National Writing Project. Dr. Hickoff-Cresko spent the first eleven years of her career teaching in an urban public school setting.

Her research interests include sources and development of reading self-efficacy, the education of historically-underserved students, and teacher preparation. Dr. Hickoff-Cresko has presented at international, national, and regional conferences, including conferences for the International Literacy Association, the Association for Middle Level Education, the Council for Exceptional Children’s Division of Early Childhood, and the Keystone State Reading Association.
