Paige Flanagan began her career in the field of video and media as a graduate assistant at IUP where she was part of a production team invited to make a film about what it is like in and around the Embassy of India in Washington, D.C. From there, she moved on to the law library media center at the University of Florida assisting students and faculty during a highly evolving time in terms of academic technology use. Finally, she found her first real library home at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia as one of a team of five librarians. Here is where her understanding of and love for a liberal educational institution blossomed and grew. She assisted in parts of the design of a new library building on campus, and played a significant role in helping Bortz Library attain top-20 ranking multiple time in Princeton Review’s list of best college libraries in the country.
Flanagan’s professional interests lie primarily in the intersection of libraries and technology, copyright and OER initiatives, library leadership, and how libraries interact with and are part of the LGBTQ+ community specifically, and underrepresented minorities generally.
Flanagan joined Snowden Library in June, 2019, and is thrilled to be here.
