Elizabeth Hughes, who graduated from Lycoming College in May with a degree in art, earned a $200 scholarship from the Kappi Pi art honor society.
The third-place award was based on a review of her portfolio, which included prints that according to the society’s president, Michael Stanley, “stood out among the excellent applications submitted.”
He also noted that her artistic achievements, which included several public exhibits of her work and high academic standing, spoke well of the education she received at the College.
Students from colleges and universities from 40 states submitted portfolios for the three scholarships offered by the international honor society.
