More of a performer than a reader, Chris Bernstorf '12 will share his poetry at 7:30 p.m. on April 5 in the Mary L. Welch Honors Hall at the corner of 4th and Basin Streets. The presentation is free and open to the public.

As a spoken word artist, Bernstorf is known for breaking down barriers between himself and his audience, and engaging everyone to experience honesty, passion and love. His poems run the gamut from shout-a-long anthems to quiet love poems, and are united by an indomitable sense of joy.

He has carved a singular trail since graduating from Lycoming College in 2012 performing in more than 300 shows in 38 states and Canada and in venues ranging from parks to kitchens, heavy metal shows to traditional poetry readings. His recordings include Yellow, The Sidewalk Hymns and Move. More information is available at

The Himes/Sweeney Visiting Scholar in Creative Writing is an endowed fund created by Lycoming alumna Diane Sweeney. Income from the endowment is used to bring distinguished writers in residence and practitioners to the college to address topics related to creative writing. Its goal is to promote discussion and exploration among students, faculty and the community.
