Family Weekend to be held Sept. 18-20

Lycoming College will host its annual Family Weekend from Sept. 18-20. Registration will be open from 1 p.m.-7 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Saturday in Burchfield Lounge, Wertz Student Center.

Highlights include the annual Family Weekend Concert, showcasing the musical talents of the Lycoming College Band and Chamber Choir, on Friday at 7 p.m. in Clarke Chapel. Friday’s activities also include asteroid bowling at Faxon Bowling Lanes and a Hiawatha Paddlewheel Riverboat Wing Cruise.

On Saturday, the women’s soccer team will host Anne Arundel Community College at 12 p.m. at the Shangraw Athletic Complex. The Warrior football team will face Wilkes University at David Person Field at 1:30 p.m. Later that afternoon, the men’s soccer team will host Keystone College at 3:00 p.m. and the men’s and women’s tennis team will face Kings College at 4 p.m. in Bruce E. Henry Park on Ritchey Street and Miller Ave., Williamsport.

Saturday’s schedule also includes a few information sessions beginning at 9 a.m. in the Jane Schultz Room, located in the Wertz Student Center. These sessions will include a “State of the College Address” by President Kent C. Trachte, Ph.D.; a “State of the First-Year Class Address” with Andrew Kilpatrick, dean of first year students; and “Study Abroad” with Philip Witherup, coordinator of study abroad and travel courses. Parents will also have the opportunity to meet with Lycoming professors during a Faculty Open House.

Family-friendly hypnotist Paul Ramsay will provide Saturday evening entertainment from 8-9 p.m. in Clarke Chapel. The event is sponsored by the Office of Student Programs and Leadership Development.
