Lycoming College Brass Quintet to hold concert

The Lycoming College Brass Quintet will hold a concert on Saturday, April 18 at 12 p.m. in the Mary Lindsay Welch Honors Hall. This event is free and open to the public.

The concert is a student and faculty collaboration. The group will perform works by Victor Ewald, John Cheetham, Collier Jones and Fred Thayer, among others.

Members of the Lycoming College Brass Quintet are selected from the membership of the Lycoming College Concert Band. An ensemble of approximately 55 members, the Concert Band is comprised of woodwind, brass and percussion players who perform wind band literature. The band performs five times annually on campus. In addition, the ensemble tours at the end of the spring semester. Membership is open to all campus students by audition.

Presidential Scholarships are awarded to those who audition and are accepted into the Brass Quintet. This ensemble performs for campus events as well as for services in the community. Additionally, instrumental choirs, performing the music of Gabrieli and Schubert, are regularly featured as part of Concert Band programs. This small ensemble provides the opportunity to develop each student's musical responsibility and sensitivity within the group.
