The Lycoming College Art Department collaborated with the Uptown Music Collective to put on their “Blue in Green: An Evening of Contemporary Jazz and Art” show March 19-21.
The show was a three night performance that highlights modern jazz at the Community Theatre League located on West Third Street.
The Lycoming College Department of Art Sculpture I and Drawing II classes created the Bamboo reed sculptures for the jazz show that hung over the stage as the musicians performed. Taylor Kendra, a senior creative writing and archaeology major, read a poem at the performance, as well.
The Drawing II class at Lycoming College focuses on the exploration of a range of materials and concepts, with an emphasis on current approaches to drawing. The Sculpture I class focuses on the exploration of traditional and contemporary approaches to sculpture through a variety of processes, materials, and theory with an emphasis on personal creativity.
