The Lycoming College Theater Department will host the premier of “A Saucy Sausage Sandwich” Feb. 26-28 in the Mary L. Welch Theatre, on Mulberry Street in Williamsport, before taking the show on the road to local high schools, middle schools and performing arts centers.

“A Saucy Sausage Sandwich” is an original piece written and directed by Tiffany T. Dwiel, assistant professor of theatre. It was produced by students as part of the “Theater for Youth in Young Audiences” class. Students enrolled in this class are immersed in all aspects of play production, providing the costumes, sound and lighting for the upcoming production.
“I sought to create a modern tale that would entertain and educate young audiences,” Dwiel said. “The characters truly came to life as I explored what might happen if the beautiful but sometimes daft “damsel in distress” took charge of her own future and made a way to be with her true love.”

The story follows young Isabella and Orazio, who must fight for true love despite Isabella’s father’s wishes for her to marry Capitano Carmen Carlos Carbalo of Cordoba. The help of a special sandwich is the only hope the young lovers have to save the day.

Dwiel and the student production team are available to perform “A Saucy Sausage Sandwich” or host acting workshops on-site Tuesday and Thursday mornings in March and April for a $50 fee. To schedule a performance, contact Tiffany T. Dwiel at 570-321-4132 by March 1.
