Mailroom Policies

Lost or Damaged Items:

The College does not assume responsibility for lost or damaged items sent through the U.S. mail. Parents or relatives wishing to send money to students are encouraged to send the money in a form other than cash (e.g. a personal check). Checks may be cashed in the Business Office in the Long Hall Administration Building. SENDING CASH IN THE MAIL IS STRONGLY DISCOURAGED.

Leaving Campus:

Leaving the college necessitates making the mailroom aware of such a move. It is your responsibility to notify all correspondents, magazine subscriptions, etc. of your address change.

Mail Fraud:

It is the policy of the college to intervene in the delivery of items when mail fraud is suspected. Public Safety will be contacted when mail fraud is suspected.

On-Campus Mailing:

On-campus mailings need to be in box order number, smallest to largest for prompt placement in boxes.

Faculty and Staff Personal Mail:

As of Fall 2019, Faculty and Staff personal mail will no longer be handled by Mail Services. This includes personal correspondence, bills, packages, etc. Any personal mail placed within departmental mail bags will be returned to the departmental administrative assistant. To avoid confusion, all departmental mail to be sent out via Mail Services should include a Lycoming College return address.
