Astronomy & Physics Lab Manager

Position Summary:

The Department of Astronomy & Physics at Lycoming College is seeking a Laboratory Manager. The primary job responsibilities include maintaining undergraduate teaching laboratories (mainly for physics classes, but also for introductory astronomy and geology), preparing equipment for teaching laboratories, working closely with instructors to upgrade and enhance laboratory offerings, teaching laboratory sections, and managing laboratory supplies and facilities.  A willingness to also serve as a part-time Planetarium Director for our new state-of-the-art Detwiler Planetarium is desirable. The Department of Astronomy & Physics has recently acquired a scanning electron microscope, so prior experience with an SEM is also desirable.  Applicants should have a Master’s degree or higher in physics or a closely related field, experience in handling physics apparatus, and a knowledge of experimental techniques.
