Visiting Artists

The art department emphasizes exciting and relevant contemporary dialogue within the larger conversation of contemporary artistic practice. To implement this program, the art department brings three to four visiting artists to campus each academic year to exhibit their work in our downtown gallery. Students attend the exhibition, opening reception and gallery talk as a part of our non-credit colloquium program. Artists also attend various studio classes to give individual critiques to our art students. One of our visiting artists or scholars is also asked to jury our Annual Senior Art Exhibition held in our downtown gallery.

Artists normally stay on campus for one to two days, unless they are working as a part of our artist residency program. Residency artists have a national or international reputation and work with our students on a week-long creative project.
