Using a VPN (Virtual Private Network) Connection

VPN connections now require Multi-factor authentication (MFA). If you have questions or need assistance, please contact it.servicecenter@lycoming.edu.

Faculty, staff and students can use FortiClient to access a VPN (virtual private network) when they are off-campus. A VPN works by creating a connection from your computer to the College’s network that allows you to  use your computer in much the same way as you would if you were sitting at your desk in your office. If you have a program installed on your computer that requires a license key from the College’s server (for example, SPSS or Mathematica), then using a VPN allows you to connect and work from locations off-campus.

The easiest way to get FortiClient for your device is to use the appropriate red download link at the bottom of this page.

Another way is to go to https://vpn.lycoming.edu:10443. You enter your Lycoming credentials and you will be given an option on the top left as to which version you would like (Windows, MacOS, iOS, and Android). The PC versions will download directly, and the iOS/Android versions will redirect you to their respective app stores.

*Please note, you do not need to access the VPN from on the campus network.

Once you have the app installed, the settings will be as follows:
Connection name: Up to you
Remote Gateway/Host: vpn.lycoming.edu
Customize port (checked): 10443
Client Certificate: None
User: your username (without @lycoming.edu)
Authentication: Prompt on login
Check “Do not Warn Invalid Server Certificate”
