Global Art

GLOBAL ART is a great course for kids in grades 4-5 interested in art.  Mrs.Stacie Lakatos and her class are working on many projects through the week.

“The children’s creativity is my favorite thing about teaching this class,” Lakatos explained. But many other things attract students to this class.

Al Russell exclaimed, “The class is fun!” Amelia Deacon and Kyle Ashby agreed that they “like making art work.”

They made Italian mosaics on Tuesday out of colored class shards. Their designs ranged from a sun with a smiling face to a frog in water.  Clara Howey said, “My favorite thing about the mosaics is gluing the tiles."

On Wednesday they created Central American Huichol yarn paintings. The yarns they used were extremely colorful. This project was very messy; to attach the yarn to the wood board they used hot bee’s wax!

On the last two days of CFK the Global Art class did Japanese fish printing called Gyotaku: EWW! They actually took a real fish and dipped it in ink. Then they made prints on pieces of paper. The end results were really neat, but they smelled slightly like raw fish!

They also made African Mud paintings. The art work came from an African tribe called Senufo. They use leaves and mud to make paint on a piece of cloth.
