GGGGross-ology

This year Lycoming College for Kids and Teens added a new course for fourth and fifth graders. Named Grossology, both the AM and PM classes were full.

Ms. Melissa Woods likes being the teacher of this class because she loves gross things, thinks it is fun to get dirty, and enjoys the children.

Ms. Woods explained that, because of the name of the class, she thought the boys would outnumber the girls, but shewas wrong! In the AM class, there were seven girls and eight boys.

Payton Vartenisian signed up for this class because she thought it “would be fun” and because she “likes to get messy.”

Rilynn Temple admitted that “nothing needed to be changed for next year,” but Kelsey Dowling would like to see “more mess[es] and more exploding.”

Sophia Sprunger said, “I would recommend this class to my friends for next year because it’s fun and you get to do cool experiments.”

3... 2... 1... Take Off

Aeronautical Engineering has been offered at College for Kids for more than twenty years. This course for fourth and fifth graders involves learning about flying planes as well as building and launching rockets.

Hannah Ramsauer said she signed up for this course because it was one of the courses she had not yet taken. “I’m enjoying it,” she admitted.

Ryan Muggleton said he “would not change anything about this class;” he likes it the way it is and “thinks it’s awesome.”

Mr. Jim Rogers decided to teach this course because he always has fun. There was a very large enrollment for the A.M and P.M. classes.

Carson Wishard would recommend this class to his friends for next year because “it’s cool, and the teacher is very nice.”

The rockets that were built during the week
were finally launched on Friday, July 27.
